First Greater Fishkill Preservation and Conservation Roundtable Held
More than 30 people representing 20 organizations in the Fishkill area attended the first Greater Fishkill Preservation and Conservation Roundtable to explore their common interests and potential for collaboration. Facilitated by Jody Miller and Susan Grove over two sessions in Nov. 7, the Roundtable was organized by Lance Ashworth, president, Friends of the Fishkill Supply Depot. The first session focused on learning about the mission of each group, what they had to offer others and what they needed from others. Themes that emerged included advocacy to develop a Heritage Committee and to locate funding, coordinating collective efforts
including prioritizing projects, and developing common brochures and websites that provide information about the wealth of historic sites in Fishkill. During the second session, a World Café, participants discussed the themes and next steps. The collective energy and enthusiasm for collaboration was high as participants decided to set a meeting date and discuss their first priority, establishing a Heritage Committee in Fishkill.
